Donatucci announces re-election campaign
State Rep. Maria Donatucci, D-185, of Philadelphia, announced today that she is seeking a third term in the state House of Representatives.
“I am proud to represent the 185th in Harrisburg and it is an honor to serve as a voice for Delaware County and Philadelphia,” Donatucci said in a statement. “I have served this community in official and unofficial capacities for the better part of 30 years, and I am asking for the voters’ support so that I can keep fighting for working families in our area.”
Donatucci, whose district includes Colwyn and portions of Darby Borough and Darby Township, first took office after winning a special election in February 2011. She filled the seat vacated by her late husband, Robert, who represented the district from 1980 until his death in November 2010.
“Bob loved this community and the citizens loved him, and my goal has always been to carry on his legacy while blazing new trails and addressing pertinent issues,” she said. “It is unfortunate, but many of the issues that were of concern when I first met my husband still persist today.”
In a press release announcing her re-election campaign, Donatucci pledged to advocate for safer neighborhoods, education funding, anti-bullying efforts, school safety and fair pay wages.
A Republican candidate has not been announced.
