Billy Smith announces more endorsements

Billy Smith, a Lansdowne Democrat running for state House, has added to his collection of endorsements.

Smith has announced that both Sprinkler Fitters Local 692 and the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals are backing him in his effort to unseat state Rep. Margo Davidson, D-164, of Upper Darby.

Both Smith and Dafan Zhang, of East Lansdowne, are running against Davidson in Democratic primary. Saud Siddiqui, of Upper Darby, is running for the seat as a Republican.

Smith announced the endorsement from the Sprinkler Fitters this morning. The PASNAP endorsement was announced late last week.

“I’m very proud to earn the support of such a vital organization like the Sprinkler Fitters,” Smiths said in a statement. “They work every day to ensure our safety and the safety of our families. This is my No. 1 goal when I go to Harrisburg.”

Local 692 represents more than 500 workers in the fire protection industry. PASNAP represents more than 5,000 nurses and allied professionals in Pennsylvania.

Smith also has been endorsed by the Pennsylvania State Educators Association, Planned Parenthood in Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania branch of the National Organization of Women, among others.

Davidson, who is seeking her third term in Harrisburg, has been endorsed by the United Steelworkers Union Local 10-1, the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776 and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 830, among others.

Zhang, a third-year law student at the University of Pennsylvania, has not announced any endorsements.
